Sapp Enters The 2008 Racing Series with Strong Hopes
New Updates 6/14/2008 Race #6 Week #10
Well Friday the 13th....hummm...Well it started off with a Friday after noon in Court for having tinted Windows, which I waited for for almost a hour just to be dropped and dismissed. With more adjustments made to the car I felt like a top 5 could be Tonight if I got some luck. Well I go out on the track for Heats and that was about all I did. Coming through turn 3 and 4 on like my 3rd lap of practice, Dave in the 4 car took a spin in front of me, which is unusaual for him and I didnt have much time to react. I took the wrong way and plowed in to the side of him coming down the track. He started his car up and drove away, later finishing runner-up in the feature. I, however waited for the tow truck to get me a lift back to my pits. After looking over the heavly damaged car we desided the reapiars were too much to try to tackle there at the track so we packed up and headed home.

Updated 6/6/2008 Race #5 week #10
After a long and tired week off its time to hit the track and see if any of the adjustments we made will do anything to change the handling of the car. We did founda pretty large vacuum leak on the carb which was making the car backfire as much as it has been latly. We fixed that and 75% of the back firing stoped. Arriving at the track we noticed a few newbies and most of the other regulars there. The car felt alot faster and the speeds showed that. However, it seemed as if everyone else was just as fast. I had a few run-ins with other drivers. On lap 2 there was a little mishap off of turn 4 involving about 5 cars I was in the middle of it but kept going. Again on lap 17 or 18 I made some good contact with another car when I got loose coming off turn 4 and did some more damage. I finished 11th out of the 14 cars, my worst fishish of the year.

Updated 5/31/2008 Week #9
Well its Dover Weekend so I took off a week from Bridgeport to head down south to watch other people crash their cars. Friday I took off work and headed down early to get most of the shopping and walking around done early before the heat kicks in. The heat did kick in and the legs and arms got burnt. The race was a good despite the heat and lack off crashes. Saturday came around and we hit the track by 7 a.m. Another HOT day but its OK becuase by the time we got up in the stands it started to rain. Well, OK, pure its little you know what off. It did so until about five p.m. about 2 hours after the Busch...umm...sorry...the Nationwide series cars were suppose to start. The track got tried and the race started a little after Six, and once again the race had the lack of crashes. Again thats OK becuase that means that Sunday would be a bashfest...well...usaully...Sunday cameand the temps wern't that bad but it was a little warm. The race started and on lap 18 or 19 the 19 car comes of turn 2 sideways and leave it to Tony Stewart to cause another large pile-up. A dozen or so cars were involved and most of which were DONE for the day. Of cours other then a few cars skimming the wall...and oh yeah the three or four cuation flags for debris the race was one of the boringest(if thats a word) race I've seen there yet. Them new C.O.T. cars are really taking the "driving" out of the drivers hands and leaving it into the fab and engine builders. Even so, being a race fan I'll still show up for the race in September.

First race in a long time and the car was ok. I felt with all the adjustments we've made the car will act different. The car seemed to be very sluggish off the turns and back fireing when ever i left off the gas for more then a half of second. The race ended without too many scrape and dents and still came out with another top 9 finish. The fourth top 9 finish in as many races.
Started 7th....finished 9th

(3)01 Bucky Allbright (4)4 Dave Damiano

Mother Nature took over the championship lead with her forth victory of the season. Well, not really, but if she was scored with pionts she would have. Anyway the car never left the trailer this week so just another waiting game for next Friday. The 10 Day Forcast is showing no rain within three days of Friday. Hey, you never know, we might get another race in this year.

Well rain fell once again across the speedway grounds for the third times this year. The weather outlook dont look to good for next Fridays race either, but cross your fingers and hope for the best. Until then, back up on the trailer and back under the tarps.

I did not have this week scheduled to run. I did however had this week off of work which was a plus, being I had a few modifications to do to the ol' Hot Rod for the next race. I decided on ripping off half the body in order to take some un-needed weight out of the car. The car is nearly 300-400 lbs over weight from the 2400lbs minimum requirments. I got nearly 150 lbs out of the car already, just by cutting out little pieces like all the double fold on the outer panels around the door and fenders and what not. I also did some weight distrubutions around the car. The car is now sitting in my driveway with half a roof on it and severe scraches from the grinder and sawza. Nothing a can of spry paint cant fix. So, anyway hopefully the car will be just that much more faster in order to beat those cars running 5-7th and maybe get myself a top five finish so I can pull around back behind the grandstands after the race.

With the double feature make up from week 2, I knew I had to make sure everything was Working proper with the car. I doubled and tripled check nearly ever bolt and nut on the car. First Event for the night was the make up feature from week 2 and starting outside row 5, I didn't drop back much being the newer guys, and girls, were behind me still tring to learn the track as I was. But as cars started to pick up speed, so was I. I posted one of my quickest lap that race, however, so did some other drivers. I came home with an 8th place finish and the car in one peice, which is good being I still had a heat and a feature left. The heat race ran ok and starting 9th in the second feature of the night and was ready to post another good finish. The track was nice and smooth, a big difference from last season and that gave the right front a big sigh of relief. I ran with the middle pack, running 5th through 8th for most of the race, however the handeling of the car and power of the car went south in the last three to four laps. I dropped almost two seconds a lap of my average, fell back to 9th position and got overtaked by the leaders coming out of turn four to take the checkered flag. At the end of the day I had over 50 laps on the car and managed to come home with a 8th and a 9th place finishes. I felt the car was a good 5th to 7th place car though. I guess a little bit more tweekin will get me there next time.

Updated 04/20/2008 Race #2 week #3
The third attempt at this racing thing started off as the week prior, but soon the clouds lifted and the rain was nowhere to be found. Started on the poll position for the heats, but slowly drifted back into the 4 position to end the heats. Starting 8th in the feature, I dropped some at the begining, but moved my way up to the 6th position at the halfway point. By lap 12, however I found myself, with the help of a towtruck, crawling my way back to the pits without any power. Later finding out I had a loose battery terminal. However before I droped out, few others did before me, so I ended up still finishing in the 9th position.

Updated 04/12/2008 Race #1(redo) Week #2
The first weekend at the track saw some old faces, along with some new ones, for the 4 cyl Stocks. Inspection of the cars were mandatory before hitting the track. A few things on our car needed to be removed or changed before the first warm-up session. The night started pretty good, Rain was in the area but the night started without any problems on the track, nor above. I ran decent in Heats, kept with in a half of a straightaway of the leaders for the remander of the 8 laps. However just minutes before getting strapped in for the Feature, got a lil bath from above once more for the second week in a row. This race, however was rescheduled for two weeks.

Well Mother Nature was the only Victor at the Track Friday Night. As rains moved through the area all day Thursday and into Friday morning, the track crew could not get the track in racing condition.
